Government mulls plans to introduce new fees to discourage logistic firms from parking their trucks on the streets and along highways.
Similarly it wants truck owners to start tracking movement of their fleet to boost safety on the roads and encourage efficiency in the transport system.
PS in the ministry of transport, Nduva Muli Thursday revealed, most accidents in the country are now contributed by wrong parking of heavy commercial vehicles.
“Almost 65 percent of all road accidents are caused by these trucks. They should be charged something little to control indiscriminate parking,” said Muli.
