Logistics firm, Acceler Global Logistics has bought a fleet of 10 Isuzu branded prime movers and trailers the largest one time sale for General Motors East Africa (GMEA).
The Kenyan freight logistics company with over 22 years local and international experience, augmented its fleet with approximately KSh120 million purchase of Isuzu EXZ trucks to better serve its logistics business within Kenya, and the larger East and Central Africa region.
The move is a great boost to GMEA as it aims to maintain its first position in overall market share and sale of heavy trucks and buses.
GMEA Managing Director, Rita Kavashe, expressed the firm’s enthusiasm in the partnership, underscoring GMEA’s commitment to provide affordable and reliable solutions for expanding local businesses.
“This investment by Acceler is a demonstration of the growth of the commercial sector in the region. It also portrays the increased penetration of the Isuzu EXZ in the truck segment; a truck we introduced to the market in late 2013,” said Kavashe.
The acquisition comes against the backdrop of registered growth by the auto firm that rose by 30 percent as at August 2014, largely contributed by developed infrastructure projects and increased logistics business.
Of the 1,454 units sold in the industry in August 2014, GMEA took the lead share, selling 426 units. The motor vehicle manufacturer, controls 70 percent of market share sales in medium and large buses.
