Emirates Resumes Cargo Flights to Eldoret Airport

Eldoret is a key hub that serves the west of Nairobi as it has over the years allowed Kenyan businesses to export directly to overseas markets.

Emirates SkyCargo has today announced the resumption of its scheduled cargo services to Eldoret International Airport.

The route will be served by Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, twice a week, this is in addition to the airline’s passenger freighter service to Nairobi.

Emirates Cargo Manager, East Africa, Saeed Abdulla, said that Eldoret is a key hub that serves the west of Nairobi as it has over the years allowed Kenyan businesses to export directly to overseas markets.

“Emirates SkyCargo is fully committed to supporting Kenya. In April and May, we have supported trade to and from Kenya through our flights to Nairobi.

With the opening of the Eldoret route, it is our hope that we will play our part in enabling local business communities in the journey to economic recovery in the midst of the ongoing pandemic,” said Abdulla.

Emirates SkyCargo airlifts mostly fresh fruits, vegetables, mangoes and meat from Kenya which are destined for the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Australia.

Acting as a global conveyor belt for the transport of essential supplies including protective equipment, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and food, Emirates SkyCargo operates cargo flights with its Boeing 777-300ER passenger freighters and its dedicated Boeing 777 freighters to over 80 destinations on scheduled and special charter services.

Drawing on its expertise as a global leader for the transportation of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, since the pandemic broke out around the world, Emirates SkyCargo has been playing a key role in transporting personal protective equipment, medical equipment, devices and pharmaceuticals.
