Pay Television Company StarTimes Media has today announced the roll out of its new business unit that marks the entry of the StarTimes digital television sets in the Kenyan market.
The move opens a new line of business for the company which will complement the pay television offering it has operated for the past five years. This will see the introduction of the StarTimes 24, 32 and 40 inch television sets that will be retailing at Ksh 18,999; 26,499 and 38,999 respectively.
Speaking during the launch ceremony, StarTimes Vice President Mr. Mark Lisboa noted that the company has progressively invested in research and development key in introducing competitive products developed from the latest technology for the company’s subscribers and customers in Kenya.
“At StarTimes, our commitment to research and development is unwavering, we continue to explore ways and means to not only introduce the latest technology in the market but also provide affordable solutions key in ensuring majority of households have access, can afford and enjoy StarTimes digital television,” noted Mr. Lisboa.
One of the key features that stand out for the StarTimes Digital TV is the ability to receive both satellite and terrestrial television signals without connecting an external set top box. The new television product which comes in three sizes and already available in market is designed to decode digital signals by itself thereby saving customers valuable resources which would have otherwise been utilized to acquire a separate set top box.
“This is an install and watch product that’s why we say StarTimes Digital TV is REAL digital TV it does not require an external set top box to broadcast both satellite and terrestrial signals and utilizes a single remote control to manage both the content and the television set,” noted Mr. Lisboa.
StarTimes Digital TV is also designed to save up to 50% power, allowing subscribers to enjoy better viewing experience with less living costs. It also comes with full High Definition LED screen, Dolby audio system, wide voltage input, HDMI and USB ports that extend an array of options to the user.
The company also announced a generous subscription offer during the Easter period where between now and April 30th, subscribers will enjoy a visual feast where for every complete month of Basic bouquet subscription paid for, subscribers will automatically be upgraded to enjoy an extra week on the Classic bouquet, while for every subscription to the Classic Bouquet, subscribers will enjoy one week Unique Bouquet for free.
The same exciting offer will be extended to the satellite television customers where for every complete month subscribed on Smart bouquet, subscribers will enjoy an extra week for free on Super Bouquet. Through this, StarTimes will provide more value for less as the company seeks to extend more premium content at no extra cost.
