Global temperatures are changing for worse and impacts are severe but despite that majority are afraid of attempting the simple ways of controlling the crisis
Time’s up! as Keith Farnish puts it in her book with a title of the same phrase. she argues that people are aware of climate change as evidenced by severe weather that has in turn resulted to food insecurity, lack of clean water, melting of glaciers and extinction of species among others.
she attributes these to our newly acquired lifestyles which she says continue dominating prioritizing material wealth and cheap thrills at the expense of preserving our biosphere.
In a nutshell our evolving civilization is the cause of global warming impacts we are facing and which is silently killing us but nothing has been done so far apart from adapting gracefully to the changes: changing of light bulbs to cut the cost and power consumption, purchase of organic foods, recycling of materials and listening to the empty rhetoric from our politicians.
we should stop our daily complaints of asking what the government has or is going to do for us instead we should ask ourselves what we are doing for the government and realize our part in every development initiative, more so on our deteriorating condition of our biosphere
It is a high time we stop the accusations, counter accusations and mudslinging, reflect and see what can be done to avert this global crisis if we are to access affordable cost of living that will be evaluated by affordable cost of fuel, food and better governance of our country.
