Loans app Mkopo Rahisi rebrands

The mobile financial services application Mkopo Ralisi yesterday rebranded into a new name, Tala at a function held in a Nairobi hotel.

According to the company CEO Shivani Siroya, Tala will offer a more seamless loan application process and an easier way for customers to check their credit limit on their mobile phones. Through the Tala app, can quickly apply for loans and receive an instant credit decision

“Our ultimate goal with Tala is to be a true financial partner to our customers and give them choice and control over their financial lives,” Siroya said.

“Tala is a direct response to the feedback from our customers who have been using Mkopo Rahisi. It has improved scoring to serve more Kenyans,” she added.

In the last eleven months, Mkopo Rahisi has disbursed over one billion shillings to more that 75,000 customers, with a repayment rates of more than 90 per cent while more than 95 per cent of the customers returning for a second loan. The company offers loans of up to Sh50,000, which are repaid after six months.
