Kenchic has decided to close down all its restaurants in Kenya owing to tough competition in the fast food business.
However it will concentrate on chicken processing for supply to rivals from local and international brands.
Kenchic will now distribute processed chicken to KFC, Dominos, Cold Stone Cremary, Subway, Terriyaki among other brands have set up operations in the country over a couple years ago.
Their entry into the market has made fast food business very competitive.
“With current fast food market growing rapidly in Kenya, Kenchic has decided to withdraw its brand name from the market… Effective March 31, 2015 Kenchic Inn brand can no longer be used or any of the Kenchic associated logo’s brands or colours,” Operations manager for processing and distributions, Philip Carolan said in a letter.
less than a year ago the company opened a Sh 350 million plant in Thika with a capacity to process 600,000 chickens per week.
“Our product will still remain available to all, at the same pricing and we will continue to supply you as and when required,” He said.
