Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge has warned supermarket retail chains against giving sweets, matchboxes and airtime for coins to customers.
The Commercial banks regulator said it had enough coins at its disposal and it was wrong for retailers to continue selling sweets as a disguise to lack of coins.
