Bank customers will now be able to make bulk payment using M-Pesa following a partnership between the bank and mobile telephony company Safaricom.
The new service will allow corporate customers to process bulk M-Pesa payments through the NIC Internet Banking platform, NIC Online.
Beneficiaries will be able to receive the payments in a matter of minutes with a confirmation report being sent to the customer by email.
“Our corporate customers can now process bulk M-PESA payments conveniently through NICOnline from the comfort of their offices without any manual interventions,” said NIC Bank Group Managing Director John Gachora during the launch of the service.
The service is targeted towards corporates with daily or weekly payments, such as wage earners. It will allow these customers to disburse bulk payments such as salaries, dividends and pension payments to the beneficiaries with ease.
‘With this proposition, we are not only making it more convenient for the bank’s corporate customers, but also demonstrating that they too can delight their customers while deriving efficiency in their operations, convenience and save on costs.” Said Bob Collymore, the CEO of Safaricom Limited”
with NIC is part of our long term strategy of introducing products that help in developing financial services that grow the cashless transactions space’ he added.
