Canon taps Mitsumi to grow sales in East Africa

Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging solutions, has appointed MITSUMI Distribution Limited as the regional distributor of Canon PV (photo video) products, OPP (office personal products) and OIP (Office Imaging products) in East Africa region.

It has also announced plans to offer loans and installment facilities to amateur photographers in a sustainable model to grow its local market share to double digits.

Focus on amateurs is targeted at growing sales to its core business of selling DSLR range of cameras.

The additional distribution services from Mitsumi Distribution will give it toehold to expand presence from Kenya to Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

With the appointment of MITSUMI distribution as the additional Canon distributor for East Africa, customers will now have even better access to a wide range of channel products with genuine product warranty.

“This partnership with MITSUMI distribution aligns with our strategy to be closer to our customers which in turn defines our commitment to make the Canon experience outstanding,” said Canon Middle East Deputy Managing Director, Naoshi Yamada.

The partnership seeks to grow the business and deliver added value to customers.

As a large contributor to international retail, itscurrent and prospective customers will continue to benefit from a wider range of channel products and with better product availability, better service, product warranty and support.

“Africa is an emerging market and represents great potential for Canon. We are excited to partner with MITSUMI and to see Canon grow throughout the East Africa market. Our partnership with MITSUMI reinforces our objective to expand our presence, and our business solutions and product reach in East Africa,” he said.

Managing Director at MITSUMI Distribution,Mitesh Shah, stated: “We are delighted with this new partnership which enables us to broaden our Imaging & Print solutions portfolio and helps us bring great value proposition to our channel partners. The move demonstrates Canon’s confidence in our ability to help grow their brand across East Africa.

MITSUMI has currently state-of-the-art service centres in eight countries through more than 10 locations to cater growing market needs,” Mitesh added.
