Mumias Sugar fires senior managers over graft

Kenya’s main sugar grower and miller, Mumias sugar company has sacked two senior managers over graft.

The company’s preliminary results on investigation on illegal importation of cheap sugar of its Chief executive officer, Peter Kebati and Commercial director Paul Murgor indicates deep involvement with a transaction value of sh 1.1 billion.

More evidence showed the senior management made misrepresentations on a number of key facts to the board.

“After careful consideration of nature and extent of involvement of the members and the financial impact to the company, the board has decided to terminate services of employees involved,” said company’s board chair, Dan Ameyo

The two have been sacked following their suspension two months ago. The investigations were done by Audit firm, KPMG.
